Dear Parents,

Thank you for considering Montessori education for your child.

The Primary Montessori Day School was conceived from my own experience as a Montessori teacher and director for the past 34 years. I am quite aware of the importance of balancing the needs of child, parent, and neighbouring community. We are offering a unique full-day Montessori curriculum and an eleven-month school calendar in effort to meet family needs. We are integrating parent education opportunities into our school agenda.

It is a wise goal for parents to seek out the best fit between child and school. It is equally important to be certain that a school can realistically deliver a parent’s educational goals and personal values to a child. Please be aware that the word “Montessori” is not patented. Anyone can use it, and the word itself is no guarantee of quality. Learn what a Montessori school should be like, then observe the children work!

In a good school, there will be a certified Montessori teacher who also meets state approval requirements. There will be a full range of Montessori materials. The children will be busy, happy, and kind. Choose carefully, as your child will be entering a second family. You should feel in harmony with a school’s ambience and practice. Trust your eyes, ears, instinct, and personal experience.

The Primary Montessori Day School requires a classroom observation and parent interview as part of our admission procedure. Please call the school office for an appointment.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Donna L. Anthony
Founder, Administrative Head

"My 3-year old daughter just started her pre-k program at Primary Montessori and I am so satisfied with this institute. First of all, the facility is so inviting, with sun-filled/wide-open classrooms, bright wall painting, wooden floor, and very kids friendly+secure floor plan(I had toured 6 different schools around the area but this is the best one!). Kids wear indoor shoes so the floor is kept clean. All the teachers and admin staffs are extremely caring, and professional (Ms. Anthony and Ms. Joy are superb!). My daughter is not so sociable at all and gets tensed easily around new people, however, it took less than a week for her to warm up to all the teachers and afterhour-care takers. They patiently wait for each child to take their time and go with their own pace, constantly showing their loving care to each child." - GreatSchools.org

"My son started attending this school in preschool and will be entering 3rd grade here next year. I cannot say enough good things about the well-rounded education that is provided here by a great staff of teachers. The value of the education, particularly in the elementary classroom is excellent. You will find no other school with this type of teacher student ratio. I highly recommend it and am particularly sold on the environment it provides for young boys- hands on, experiential learning." - GreatSchools.org

"My chid has been in the primary program for three years and he has thrived at Primary Montessori. The curriculum is well-rounded, as from the early years they are exposed to geography, science, different cultures, social studies, etc. He has become a confident reader in his Kindergarten year, and has learned to do arithmetic by working with the Montessori materials. Thanks to the wonderful teachers who have done an amazing job!" - GreatSchools.org

"I admire the dedication of the teachers at Primary Montessori, they go out of their way to prepare their students to transition into their next school. Both of my children had a wonderful experience at Primary Montessori. My children are well-rounded, well-mannered, and most of all self-motivated!" - GreatSchools.org

History

At The Primary Montessori Day School, learning is based on the discoveries of Dr. Maria Montessori, who was one of the first educators to perceive that children are particularly sensitive to the world around them.

To take advantage of their “absorbent minds”, Dr. Maria Montessori developed a multi-sensory classroom environment filled with unique materials for learning. She was a brilliant student of child development, and out of her research came a curriculum that has stood the test of ninety years in Montessori schools around the world.

The Jeff Bezos (founder, AMAZON.com and, Larry Page & Sergey Brin (cofounders, GOOGLE.com) attended Montessori school.

On the Barbara Walters ABC-TV Special "The 10 Most Fascinating People Of 2004" Larry Page and Sergey Brin, founders of the popular Internet search engine Google.com, credited their years as Montessori students as a major factor behind their success. When Barbara Walters asked if the fact that their parents were college professors was a factor behind their success, they said no, that it was their going to a Montessori school where they learned to be self-directed and self-starters. They said that Montessori education allowed them to learn to think for themselves and gave them freedom to pursue their own interests.
